From Joseph Inguimberty to Alix Aymé, from Nguyễn Phan Chánh to Vũ Cao Ɖàm, by way of Mai Trung Thứ and Lê Phồ – teachers or students – they drew, painted, sculpted, worked with lacquer, and exhibited. Directed by Victor Tardieu and then Evariste Jonchère, the school enjoyed a period of rich artistic emulation between 1925 and 1945 and was the instigator of the modern art revival in Vietnam.

Từ Inguimberty đến Alix Aymé, từ Nguyễn Phan Chánh đến Vũ Cao Đàm, qua Mai Trung Thứ và Lê Phổ, dù là giáo viên hay học sinh, họ vẽ, sơn, điêu khắc, cho ra đời các tác phẩm sơn mài, các cuộc triển lãm… Điều hành bởi Victor Tardieu và sau đó là Evariste Jonchère, từ năm 1925 đến năm 1945, cơ sở (hay ngôi trường) này đã trải qua một thời kỳ thi đua nghệ thuật vô cùng sôi nổi, khơi nguồn cho sự canh tân nghệ thuật hiện đại Việt Nam.
